Keyless Entry: Description and Operation
The remote function actuator (RFA) feature allows a driver to operate several vehicle features from outside the car using a hand-held radio transmitter. The transmitter operates in the UHF band; it sends coded signals to the RFA module. The RFA Module detects and decodes the signals and issues signals to control the door locks, trunk release, theft deterrent, fuel door release and illuminated entry.Power is provided from the COMFORT fuse in the trunk compartment fuse block, on CKT 2640 (ORN) to terminal A of the RFA module. The module is grounded at terminal C through CKT 1051 (BLK) to ground G400. When the RFA module issues a message, to lock doors, open the trunk lid. etc., it is sent via Class II data bus to the body control module, which commands the appropriate outputs. Refer to a description of the circuits controlled by the body control module (PZM).
