Arming

For the Universal Theft Deterrent (UTD) system to arm the Platform Zone Module or Body Control Module (PZM) must first see:
^ The ignition key turned to "LOCK".
^ Any door open.
^ Doors locked by either the power door lock switch or the Remote Frequency Actuator (RFA) Transmitter (Key Fob).

At this point the PZM sends a Class 2 message requesting the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) to command the "SECURITY" indicator to blink. (If all of the doors are closed and the RFA Transmitter (Key Fob) is used to lock the doors the PZM goes directly to the delayed state). When the last door is closed, the PZM enters a delayed state for 30 seconds (this time period may be substantially lower for vehicles with under 20 miles on the odometer). At this time the PZM sends a Class 2 message requesting the IPC to command the "SECURITY" indicator on. After the 30 seconds elapse the PZM enters the armed state. At this time the PZM sends a Class 2 message requesting the IPC to command the "SECURITY" indicator off.

If a door unlock request is received by the PZM during the arming sequence the PZM will not arm the system. The PZM then sends a Class 2 message requesting the IPC to command the "SECURITY" indicator off. To arm the system at this point the arming sequence must be repeated.
