Expansion Valve: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
3. Remove the evaporator line extension bolt.
4. Remove the LF floor air outlet duct.
5. Remove the vacuum solenoid/cutoff valve actuator screws.
6. Disconnect the actuator connectors.
7. Position the actuators out of the way.
8. Remove the evaporator access panel screws.
9. Remove the evaporator access panel.
10. Remove the evaporator line screw.
11. Remove the evaporator line.
12. Remove the Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) screws.
13. Remove the TXV.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the TXV.
^ Use new O-rings.
^ Lubricate the new O-rings with mineral oil, 525 viscosity.
2. Install the TXV screws. Tighten the TXV screws to 8 Nm (71 lb. in).
3. Install the evaporator line:
^ Use new O-rings.
^ Lubricate the new O-rings with mineral oil, 525 viscosity.
4. Install the evaporator line screw. Tighten the screw to 5 Nm (44 lb. in).
5. Install the evaporator access panel.
6. Install the evaporator access panel screws. Tighten the screws until fully seated and not stripped.
7. Position the vacuum solenoid/cutoff valve actuators.
8. Install the vacuum solenoid/cutoff valve actuator screws. Tighten the screws until fully seated and not stripped.
9. Connect the actuator connectors.
10. Install the LF floor air outlet.
11. Install the evaporator line extension bolt. Tighten the bolt to 20 Nm (15 lb. ft).
12. Connect the battery negative cable.
13. Reprogram applicable accessories.
14. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
15. Leak test the A/C system.
