Rear Damping Bushing Replacement (Left Side)
^ Tool Required:- J 21474-01 Control Arm Bushing Set
- J 42112 rear Differential Bushing Kit
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Lower the rear axle differential.
3. Perform the following steps using the components from the J 21474-01 Control Arm Bushing Set to press the bushing out of the cradle:
A. Install the J 21474-5 Bushing Receiver onto the J 21474-19 3/8-inch bolt.
B. Insert the assembly through the bushing from the inside of the bushing.
C. install the J 42112-4 Bushing Driver/Remover onto the J 21474-19 3/8-inch bolt.
D. Install the J 21474-18 3/8-inch nut onto the J 21474-19 3/8-inch bolt.
4. Hold the J 21474-18 3/8-inch nut while tightening the J 21474-19 3/8-inch bolt until the bushing is drawn out of the cradle.
Important: The bushings are removed from the outside inward. Once the bushings are removed they are not reusable. Therefore, the bushings must be replaced.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. The bushing must be installed into the suspension cradle with the correct orientation as shown.
2. Perform the following steps to install the bushing:
A. Fit the J 21474-5 Bushing Receiver onto the J 21474-19 3/8-inch bolt.
B. Insert the above assembly through the cradle bushing bore from the inside outward.
C. Position the bushing onto the J 21474-19 - 3/8-inch bolt.
D. Then, into the cradle bushing bore.
E. Install the J 42112-5 Bushing Driver/Installer onto the J 21474-19 3/8-inch bolt.
F. Install the J 21474-18 3/8-inch nut onto the J 21474-19 3/8-inch bolt.
G. Draw the bushing into the bore with the correct orientation by-holding the J 21474-18 3/8-inch nut stationary while tightening the J 21474-19 3/8-inch bolt.
H. The bushing is positioned when the J 42112-5 Bushing Driver/Installer bottoms on the suspension cradle.
3. Install the differential.
4. Lower the vehicle.
