Wiper Arm: Service and Repair

Hose, Cap, And Nut Removal (Typical):




Wiper Arm Assembly Removal:




Pin Or Pivot Insertion:




Wiper Arm Assembly Installation (Typical):






Remove or Disconnect
1. Nozzle hose (15) from connector (5).
2. Protective cap (14).
3. Lift wiper arm assembly (17) and insert a suitable pin or pop rivet completely through the two holes located next to pivot of arm.
4. Nut (16).
5. Wiper arm assembly off transmission drive shaft using a battery terminal puller.

Clean
^ Knurls of transmission drive shaft with a suitable wire brush.
6. Wiper blade assembly, if required.

Install or Connect

NOTICE: Refer to Service Precautions.

1. Wiper blade assembly, if removed.
2. Wiper arm and blade assembly on
transmission drive shaft so that wiper arm assembly (17) is 25 mm (1 in.) below stop surface of park ramp.
3. Remove pivot prevention pin or rivet from wiper arm.
4. New nut (16).

Tighten
^ Nut (16) to 23 N.m (17 lb. ft.).

5. Lift replaced arm assembly over park ramp.
6. Nozzle hose (15) on connector (5).
7. Protective cap (14).
Inspect
^ Run wipers and check for correct wipe pattern. LH blade tip should wipe to a limit of 78 mm (3-1/16 in.) from the pillar. RH blade should overlap into LH wipe pattern.
^ Shut off wipers and check for proper park position.
