Backing Plate Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
^ Tool Required
- J 42072 Rear Brake Backing Plate Bolt Remover

1. Remove the rear wheel bearing hub from the control arm.
2. Remove the parking brake shoes with the related hardware.





3. Use the J 42072 Rear Brake Backing Plate Bolt Remover to remove the rear backing plate bolts (1) from the rear brake backing plate (2).





4. Remove the parking brake anchor (3) from the rear brake backing plate (2).
5. Remove the rear brake backing plate (2) from the rear axle control arm (1).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the rear brake backing plate (2) to the rear axle control arm (1).
2. Install the parking brake anchor (3) to the rear brake backing plate (2).





3. Use the J 42072 Rear Brake Backing Plate Bolt Remover to install the rear backing plate bolts (1) to the rear brake backing plate (2).
^ Tighten the rear backing plate bolts (1) to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).

NOTICE: Refer to "Fastener Notice "in Service Precautions.

4. Install the parking brake shoes with the related hardware.
5. Install the rear wheel bearing hub to the control arm.


IMPORTANT: Ensure the rear wheels still turn on the 4th notch of the parking brake application. Ensure the rear wheel are tight on the 7th notch of the parking brake application. Refer to "Park Brake Lever Adjustment" in Parking Brake Lever if the system does not operate within this range.

6. Test the parking brake operation and state of adjustment.
