Drive Belt: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the splash shield bolts.
4. Remove the splash shield.
5. Remove the A/C compressor hose strap bolt.
6. Counterhold the generator bolt on the back side of the generator to remove the AIR injection crossover pipe bracket nut (6) from the generator bolt.
7. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe bushing nut (1), located on the left side of the engine, from the bracket.
8. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe clamps from the rubber hose connections (2).
9. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe from the rubber hose connections.
10. Reposition the AIR injection crossover pipe (4) to enable removal of the serpentine drive belt.
11. Use a 15 mm wrench to rotate the tensioner pulley (5) clock-wise while sliding the belt (7) from the water pump pulley to remove the serpentine drive belt from the serpentine drive belt tensioner.
12. Remove the serpentine drive belt.
13. Clean the serpentine drive belt surfaces.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Refer to the serpentine belt routing diagram to install the serpentine drive belt.

Important: Ensure the serpentine drive belt is aligned into the proper grooves of the drive pulleys.

2. Use a 15 mm wrench to rotate the tensioner clock-wise to install the serpentine drive belt last to the water pump pulley.
3. Reposition the AIR injection crossover pipe (4).
4. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe to the rubber hose connections (2).
5. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe clamps to the rubber hose connections.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

6. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe bushing nut (6) to the generator bolt.
- Tighten the AIR injection crossover pipe bushing nut to 12 Nm (108 inch lbs).

7. Use a wrench to counterhold the generator bolt on the back side of the generator to install the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket nut to the generator bolt.
- Tighten the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket nut (generator bolt) to 40 Nm (30 ft lbs).

8. Install the A/C compressor hose strap bolt.
- Tighten the A/C compressor hose support strap bolt to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs).

9. Install the splash shield.
10. Install the splash shield bolts.
- Tighten the splash shield bolts until fully seated. Do not strip the splash shield bolts.

11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
13. Reprogram the applicable accessories.
