Starter Motor Noise Diagnosis
1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support.NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
2. Inspect the starter motor-to-engine bolts for the proper tightness.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 60 N.m (44 lb ft).
3. Remove the inspection plug at the rear of the oil pan.
4. Inspect the flywheel teeth:
^ Rotate the flywheel while observing the teeth.
^ If any teeth are damaged or worn, perform the following steps:
- Replace the flywheel
- Inspect the starter pinion gear.
