Flex Plate: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

^ TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 36660 Torque/Angle Meter
- J 42098 Crank Hub Torx Socket

1. Remove the transmission.





2. Use the J 42098 to counterhold the crankshaft to remove the flywheel bolts.
3. Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.
4. Clean the rear crankshaft flange.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the flywheel to the crankshaft.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Important:
^ Use new flywheel bolts.
^ Coat the new flywheel bolts with thread retaining compound, GM P/N 12345493 or equivalent.





2. Install the flywheel bolts.
^ Use the J 42098 to counterhold the crankshaft.
^ Use the J 36660 to tighten the flywheel bolts to 65 Nm (48 ft lbs) + 30 degrees + 15 degrees.

3. Install the transmission.
