Park Brake Lever Adjustment





1. The parking brake shoes must be properly adjusted before adjusting the parking brake lever. Refer to Park Brake Shoe Adjustment.
2. Set the parking brake lever to the 4th notch.
3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
4. Remove the exhaust muffler heat shields. Refer to Exhaust Pipe and Muffler Heat Shields Replacement in Exhaust System.
5. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement - Two Piece in Transmission and Drivetrain.

Important: Clean and lubricate the exposed threads before attempting to turn the adjusting nut.




6. Loosen the adjuster nut (1) on the parking brake lever shaft (2) until the parking brake levers are in the at-rest position.
7. Tighten the adjuster nut on the parking brake lever shaft until braking effort occurs while still allowing the wheels to turn.
8. Perform the following inspection:
8.1. Ensure the rear wheels still turn with the parking brake lever set on the 4th notch.
8.2 Ensure the rear wheels are tight with the parking brake lever set on the 7th notch.
8.3. Ensure braking effort is equal at both rear wheels.
9. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement - Two Piece in Transmission and Drivetrain.
10. Install the exhaust muffler heat shields. Refer to Exhaust Pipe and Muffler Heat Shields Replacement in Exhaust System.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Release the parking brake lever.
