Front Bumper: Service and Repair









Removal

1. Raise both head lamps to gain working clearance.
2. Remove splash shield and lower cover plate.
3. Remove license plate and bracket from front cover.
4. Disconnect bulbs from parking lamp.
5. Remove grilles and lenses.
6. Remove corner reinforcements on each side of the vehicle.
7. Remove nuts from studs holding the bumper cover to the body. Then remove the cover.
8. Remove bolts from both outboard ends of the bumper bar and the bolts from lower guard reinforcement. Then remove the center bolts to the frame extension brace.
9. Remove front bumper and cushion assembly.
10. To disassemble:
a. From the front, remove two bolts holding the reinforcement to the bumper bar.
b. Remove the reinforcement from the bumper bar.
c. Separate the cushion from the bumper bar by removing pop rivets.

Installation

1. Attach the bumper bar to the vehicle, following, "Front, Bumper Adjustment" procedure after step 3.
2. Reassemble the cushion and reinforcement to the bumper bar; attach grilles and lenses.
3. Reverse steps 1 through 9 to reinstall the front bumper assembly.
