Subject: A/C SYSTEM LEAKS AT PRESSURE SWITCH
Model and Year: 1987 CAVALIER WITH L-4 OR V-6 ENGINE AND AIR CONDITIONING
TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
In the event the air conditioning system looses its freon, it is extremely likely that the cause will be the "O" ring seal at the pressure switch.
Models equipped with L-4 engines have a high pressure switch located in the back of the compressor.
Models equipped with V-6 engines use two switches, a high pressure one and a low pressure one. Both switches are located in the high pressure line near the block fitting at the condensor.
Prior to charging the system to perform a leak test on a discharged system, replace the "O" ring on the one or both switches with one that is slightly larger, P/N 3093509.
This "O" ring should be used whenever the switches require service.
