Service Procedure
Figure 1 - ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY:
1. Open hood, install fender covers.
2. Remove lower left I.P. sound insulator (if equipped) and disengage accelerator control cable retainer from accelerator pedal (Figure 1).
3. Depress cable locking tangs at front of dash and remove cable from dash (Figure 1).

4. Remove cable from engine mounted clip (Figure 2).
5. Remove retainer that attaches accelerator cable to T.B.I. lever (View A, Figure 2).
6. Depress cable locking tangs at bracket located below T.B.I. lever and remove cable (View B, Figure 2).
7. Install new accelerator control cable by reversing the removal procedure. Observe the following during installation of the new cable:
Cable Installation
^ During installation the braided portion of the accelerator cable must not come in contact with the front of dash sealer.
^ Locking tangs at both ends of cable must be expanded and locked in their attaching holes.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

^ Install collar from old cable onto new cable. Refer to Figure 1.
^ Slip accelerator control cable through slot in lever and then install retainer in lever, being sure it is seated. Care must be utilized in pressing the retainer into hole in lever to assure the cable is not kinked or damaged in any way.
Cable Connection to T.B.I. Lever
^ Retainer must be installed with tang secured over head of stud.
8. Lube cable pivot points with accelerator linkage lubricant, GM P/N 1052541 or equivalent.
9. Check to ensure that all components are installed correctly and that linkage and cable is not rubbing or binding in any manner. Throttle should operate freely without bind between full closed and wide open throttle.
10. Install Campaign Identification Label.

CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION LABEL
Each vehicle corrected in accordance with the instructions outlined in this Product Campaign Bulletin will require a "Campaign Identification Label." Each label provides a space to include the five digit dealer code of the dealer performing the campaign service. This information may be inserted with a typewriter or ballpoint pen.
Each "Campaign Identification Label" is to be located on the radiator core support in an area which will be visible when the vehicle is brought in for periodic servicing by the owner.
Apply "Campaign Identification Label" only on a clean dry surface.
