Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Adjustments
PARK LOCK CABLE
1. Ensure that shift control cable is properly adjusted.
2. Remove console attaching screws, then the console.
3. Place shift control lever in Park position and ignition key in Lock position.
4. Loosen upper and lower nuts securing cable to floor bracket.
5. Rotate lower nut clockwise until control lever cannot be moved out of Park position.
6. Securely tighten upper adjusting nut.
7. Rotate key to off position and ensure that shift control lever can be moved out of Park position.
8. Install console.

SHIFT CONTROL CABLE
1. Loosen 2 nuts on control rod link, Fig. 1, then place transaxle manual lever in neutral detent.
2. Place shift control lever in neutral position.
3. Rotate link assembly clockwise to remove slack in shift cable.
4. While holding link, tighten rear adjusting nut until it just contacts link.
5. Tighten front adjusting nut until it just contacts link, then securely tighten both adjusting nuts.
6. Ensure that when the selector lever is shifted from Park through 1, a clicking can be felt at each shift position. Ensure that the gear selected corresponds to that indicated by the gear position plate.
7. Ensure lever can be shifted between Drive and Neutral without depressing the shifter button.
8. If the shift lever can be shifted from Drive to Reverse without depressing the shifter button or if the button is loose, adjust by loosening the locknut and twisting the selector lever knob.
