Model and Year: 1988 J CAR
TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
When diagnosing fuel pump or cooling fan circuits on 1988 RS and Z24 models, a technician may encounter a misprinted fuse usage label. Should this occur, the fuse panel cover should be replaced with a 1989 cover containing the correct information.
Some or all of the following fuse usage information was printed incorrectly on the fuse usage chart located on the fuse block cover:
Fuse # 1 - Does not protect the cooling fan relay.
Fuse # 8 - Is Shown as a spare on the 1988 label Fuse # 8 - Should be "10 amp fuel pump"
Fuse # 17 - Is shown as "20 amp alternator" on 1988 label Fuse # 17 - Should be "10 amp alternator, cooling fan"
This information may be corrected by installing the 1989 fuse panel cover for the "JF" series Cavalier.
IMPORTANT: The 1989 label shows fuse # 5 as "10 amp clock/radio" and is not used in the 1988 Fuse Block
