System Check

1. Follow the systems check to verify the complaint and to see if system is operating properly.

2. When a system check fails, refer to the appropriate diagnosis under SYSTEMS DIAGNOSIS.

3. When repairs are complete, redo the systems check to verify repair and proper operation.



NOTE: To reduce alarm noise, muffle the vehicle horns with rags. Put all windows fully down before testing. Verify that the power door lock system is operating properly before continuing.



SYSTEM CHECK

The system check is used as a guide to normal system operation.


ARMING (with power door locks)

1. Turn the ignition switch to RUN and then to OFF. Open the drivers door.
^ SECURITY SYSTEM indicator flashes.

2. With the driver's door open, move the door lock switch to LOCK.
^ SECURITY SYSTEM indicator stays on.

3. Close the door. (stay in the car.)
^ SECURITY SYSTEM indicator goes out. System is armed.


ARMING (with manual door locks)

1. Turn the ignition switch to RUN and then to OFF. Open the drivers door.
^ SECURITY SYSTEM indicator flashes.

2. With the driver's door open, slide both door lock levers to the lock position.
^ SECURITY SYSTEM indicator stays on.

3. Close the door. (stay in the car.)
^ SECURITY SYSTEM indicator goes out. System is armed.


TEST ALARMS

1. Unlock the LH door manually using the inside door release and open the door
^ Horns pulse on and off.
^ Alarm cycles on and off approximately once a second for two to four minutes.

2. While alarms are operating, turn the ignition switch to START.
^ Starter does not operate.

DISARMING

1. Using the vehicle key, unlock the LH door.
^ Alarms stop.

2. Rearm the system using the RH door lock switch. Get out of the car before closeing the door to complete the arming sequence. Unlock the RH door with the key and open it.
^ No alarms sound. (The key unlock disarms the system.)


RESET AFTER ALARMS

1. Rearm the system and unlock the RH door using the door lock post (system is armed). Open the door and reclose it.
^ Alarms sound.

2. After alarm stops in about three minutes, open RH door.
^ Alarms sound again.

3. Unlock RH door using the key.
^ Alarm stops.

LOCK WITHOUT ARMING

1. Lock each door using the outside key lock (do not use the power door locks).
^ SECURITY indicator goes off when the last door is closed (system is not armed).

2. Unlock the LH door using the inside lock and open the door.
^ Alarms do not sound.
