Defect & Vehicles, Involved, Owner Notification & Dealer Campaign Information
DEFECT INVOLVEDGeneral Motors has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in certain 1987-88 Chevrolet Spectrum "Turbo" model vehicles. Involved vehicles may experience perforation of the fuel tank or the attached fuel feed pipe due to corrosion of the fuel tank or the fuel feed pipe materials. Perforation of either the fuel tank or the attached fuel feed pipe can allow fuel to leak from the fuel tank. This condition could ultimately result in a fire without prior warning. Such a fire could, in time, spread to the passenger compartment.
DEFECT INVOLVED
To prevent this condition from occurring, the fuel tank assembly must be replaced in all involved vehicles.
