1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove instrument panel sound insulator, Fig. 42.
3. Remove courtesy lights, then left side speaker grille and speaker.
4. Remove left side instrument panel trim pad.
5. Disconnect parking brake cable by unhooking it from actuator.
6. Open glove compartment and remove three screws holding glove compartment to hinge, Fig. 43.
7. Pull compartment rearward and disconnect electrical connectors.
8. Remove three screws attaching door hinge to instrument panel.
9. Remove right side speaker grille and speaker.
10. Remove two bolts attaching convenience center and lower convenience center.
11. Remove two attaching bolts at the ALDL connector and lower connector.
12. On vehicles without A/C, remove vent housing, Fig. 44.
13. On all vehicles, remove six steering column trim cover attaching screws.
14. Disconnect electrical connector to trunk/tailgate release switch and remove steering column trim cover, Fig. 45.
15. Remove the ashtray, then the three bolts attaching fuse block and lower fuse block.
16. Remove headlight switch knob and rear window wiper/washer switch.
17. Remove lighter and lighter housing, then disconnect rear defogger switch electrical connector.
18. Remove four screws attaching radio to instrument panel, disconnect electrical connectors and remove radio.
19. Remove four screws attaching heater and A/C controller to instrument panel, disconnect electrical connector, vacuum harness and temperature control cable.

20. Remove ten screws attaching instrument cluster trim pad to instrument panel, Fig. 46.
21. Remove four nuts from under instrument panel and remove trim pad.
22. Disconnect shift indicator clip from under steering column shift bowl.
23. Remove six screws attaching cluster to instrument panel, Fig. 47.
24. Pull cluster rearward, disconnect electrical connectors and speedometer cable.
25. Remove side window defogger grilles.
26. Remove four screws attaching instrument panel braces to steering column.
27. Remove two screws attaching instrument panel brace to heater case.
28. Remove two bolts holding steering column and lower steering column.
29. Remove screws attaching ventilation ducts to the instrument panel.
30. Remove screws attaching upper part of instrument panel to body, Fig. 48.
31. Remove two bolts and ground wires, one at each side of the instrument panel.
32. Push side defoggers and printed circuit through dash openings.
33. Pull instrument panel rearward, disconnect any remaining electrical connectors and remove instrument panel.
34. Reverse procedure to install.
