1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove instrument panel pad retaining screws under edge of instrument panel pad, Fig. 194.
3. Lift upward on front of pad assembly, then pull rearward to release.
4. Remove speaker retaining bolts, then lift speaker and disconnect speaker electrical connectors.
5. Disconnect instrument cluster assembly electrical connectors, then remove cluster retaining screws, Fig. 195.
6. Remove glove compartment door.
7. Remove glove compartment assembly retaining screws.
8. Disconnect glove compartment electrical connector.
9. Remove glove compartment assembly.
10. Remove right side sound insulator retaining screws.
11. Push insulator toward front of vehicle then pull downward to remove.
12. Remove ventilation system control retaining bolts, Fig. 196.
13. Disconnect control assembly electrical connectors and remove from vehicle.
14. Remove radio retaining bolts, then disconnect electrical connectors and remove from vehicle.
15. Remove headlamp switch retaining screws, then disconnect switch electrical connector and remove from vehicle.
16. Remove ashtray, slide bracket retaining screws, then the bracket.
17. Remove ALDL cover.
18. Remove ALDL retaining screws then disconnect ALDL electrical connector.
19. Remove two parking brake release handle retaining screws then lower handle and pull to right to remove.
20. Disconnect fuse block electrical connectors.
21. Remove fuse block retaining screws, then the fuse block.
22. Remove left sound insulator and steering column trim panel.
23. Remove two upper and lower steering column support retaining bolts, then lower steering column.

24. Remove seven instrument panel carrier assembly retaining bolts, Fig. 197.
25. Remove carrier assembly from vehicle.
26. Reverse procedure to install.
