Passenger Compartment Sensor

Fig. 312 Passenger Compartment Sensor Removal:

1. Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.
2. Remove console, left front seat and track guides.
3. Remove left side shroud panel and left front center pillar lower trim and carpet restrainer.
4. Remove CPA and disconnect sensor electrical connector.
5. Lift carpet to gain access to electrical harness routing conduits. Fig. 312.
6. Remove sensor mounting bolts, then snap open conduits and remove sensor wiring.
7. Remove passenger compartment sensor.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install sensor with arrow pointing toward front of vehicle.
b. Torque mounting bolts to 80 inch lbs.
c. Following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
d. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
