Subject: SCRATCHES - FULL SIZE ALUMINUM SPARE WHEEL


Model and Year: 1991 CAPRICE SEDAN


Condition: Some vehicles equipped with a full size aluminum wheel for the spare tire may experience some minor scratches to the face of the wheel.


Cause: These scratches are caused by contact with the jack.





Correction: A molded plastic cover is now available to prevent contact between the jack and the aluminum wheel. (See Illustration) This cover entered production with VIN 133303.


A jack cover, P/N 14097773 may be ordered from GMSPO for vehicles built prior to this VIN.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.


NOTICE: CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO PREVENT SCRATCHING TO THE ALUMINUM SPARE FROM THE HOLD DOWN "J" BOLT IN THE TRUNK.
