Engine Installation

Install or Connect
1. Slowly lower the body onto the powertrain.
2. Bolt struts to shock towers.
3. Frame bolts. Refer to Engine Mount / Locations. LocationsRefer to Engine Mount / Service and Repair. Engine Mount
4. Remove engine/transaxle table from under assembly.
5. Brake calipers and torque mounting bolts to 51 Nm ( 38 ft. lb. ).Refer to Brakes and Traction Control / Brakes / Disc Brake System / Brake Caliper / Service and Repair. Brake Caliper
6. Brake hose bracket at strut.
7. Tie rod ends. Refer to Steering and Suspension / Steering / Tie Rod End / Service and Repair. Steering
8. Exhaust down pipe to crossover and torque to 25 Nm (18 lb. ft.)
9. A/C compressor.
10. Oil filter and torque to 15 Nm ( 11 ft.lb. ).
11. Right side splash shield.
12. Tire and wheel assemblies.
13. Lower engine wiring then lower vehicle. Refer to Vehicle / Locations / Connectors / Pictorial Views for harness locations. Locations
14. Upper engine wiring. Refer to Vehicle / Locations / Connectors / Pictorial Views for harness locations. Locations
15. Vacuum hose to vacuum reservoir.
16. Canister purge vacuum line.
17. Vacuum check valve at power brake booster.
18. A/C pressure switch electrical connector.
19. Accelerator and cruise control cable ( if equipped ) to throttle linkage.
20. Shift cable and linkage to mounting bracket.
21. Serpentine belt. Refer to Drive Belt / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
22. Heater inlet hose to rear of engine.
23. Heater outlet hose to water pump.
24. Lower radiator hose to engine and torque hose clamps to 1.5 Nm ( 9 in. lb. ).
25. Upper radiator hose to engine and torque hose clamps to 1.5 Nm ( 9 in. lb. ).
26. Transaxle fluid level indicator.
27. Transaxle cooler lines from radiator and torque to 27 Nm ( 20 ft. lb. ).
28. Cooling fan electrical connections.
29. Fill all necessary fluid levels.
30. Battery and battery cables and torque bolts to 15 Nm ( 11 ft.lb. ).Refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction / Service and Repair / Idle Learn Procedure. Service and Repair
31. Air cleaner assembly.
32. Inspect for proper fluid levels, leaks, and completion of repair.
