Convertible Top: Description and Operation

Voltage is applied at all times through the Hatch Circuit Breaker to the Deck Lid Release Relay When any of the Deck Lid Release Switches are operated, ground is provided to the Deck Lid Release Relay coil. The coil is energized and the relay contacts close. Voltage is then applied to the LH and RH Deck Lid Release Solenoids. The solenoids energize and the Deck Lid releases.

The Deck Lid Release Switches located in the doors are grounded through the Door Ajar Switches. When either the LH or RH Door is opened, the Door Ajar Switch closes and provides a path to ground for the Deck Lid Release Switches.

The Deck Lid Release Switch located in the Console is grounded through the Park Brake Switch (Manual Transmission) or Transmission Position Switch (Automatic Transmission).
