Air Bags
The Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module (DERM) can maintain sufficient voltage to cause a deployment for 10 minutes after the ignition switch is turned off and the battery is disconnected. Many of the service procedures require disconnection of the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) fuse and inflator module from the deployment loop to avoid an accidental deployment. Diagnostic procedures do not normally require fuse removal or disconnection of the inflator module. Always refer to service procedures for diagnosis. Air Bag Systems
WARNING: When performing service on or around Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) components or SIR wiring, follow the procedures in Air Bags and Seat Belts to temporarily disable the SIR system. Failure to follow procedures could result in possible air bag deployment, personal injury, or unneeded SIR system repairs.
Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts / Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems). Air Bag Systems
