Owner Notification

April 28, 1993

Dear Chevrolet Caprice Owner:

This notice is sent to inform you that Chevrolet Motor Division is conducting a recall campaign that includes your vehicle.

REASON FOR THIS RECALL

General Motors has determined that certain 1993 Chevrolet Caprice Police Car, Taxi and Utility Station Wagon model vehicles were assembled with batteries which do not meet the specifications advertised in vehicle literature and bid package information. Vehicle literature and bid package information identified a 730 CCA (Cold Cranking Amp) battery, however the involved vehicles were assembled with 690 CCA batteries.

WHAT WE WILL DO

To correct this condition, Chevrolet Motor Division is offering you the choice of the following:

A. Have a new battery with 770 CCA (730 CCA batteries are no longer available) installed at no charge to you.

OR

B. Receive a refund of $25.00 in place of receiving a new battery.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Please contact your Chevrolet dealer as soon as possible to arrange a service date or arrange to receive the refund. Also, complete and sign the Option Selection Form included with this letter and present it to your dealer as notification of your choice. Instructions for making this correction have been sent to your dealer. If you wish to receive the new battery, please ask your dealer how much time will be needed to schedule and process your vehicle.

The enclosed owner reply card identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this card to your dealer will assist in making the necessary correction in the shortest possible time. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by completing the postage paid reply card and returning it to us.

We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our products.
