Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

TRUNK LID RELEASE

Battery voltage is applied at all times from Fuse 2 to the Trunk Lid Release Switch. With the Switch closed, voltage is applied to the Trunk Lid Release Solenoid which is grounded at G300. When the Trunk Lid Release Solenoid is activated it will release the Trunk Lid Latch.

REAR GLASS RELEASE

The Rear Glass Release can be activated from within the vehicle by pressing the Rear Glass Release/Tailgate Lock Switch (without Power Door Locks) or the Rear Glass Release Switch (with Power Door Locks) in the Accessory Switch Panel. The Rear Glass can also be released from outside the vehicle by using the Rear Glass/Push Button Switch when the Tailgate is unlocked. However, the Rear Glass of SEO equipped vehicles can only be released from the Rear Glass Interlock/Push Button Switch.
Battery voltage is applied at all times to the normally open contacts of the Rear Glass Release Relay from Fuse 1. With the Rear Glass Release/Tailgate Lock Switch (without Power Door Locks) or the Rear Glass Interlock/Push Button Switch and Tailgate Lock Sense Switch closed, voltage from Fuse 1 is applied to the coil of the Rear Glass Release Relay.
The coil of the relay receives a ground through the Transmission Position Switch at G200. Thus, the Rear Glass Release Relay can only be energized when the gear selector is in the Park or Neutral Position.
When the Rear Glass Release Relay is energized, its contacts close, and voltage is applied to the Rear Glass Release Solenoid, which is case grounded. The Rear Glass will be released when the Rear Glass Release Solenoid is energized.
