Engine Installation

Install or Connect
1. Slowly lower the body onto the powertrain.
2. Transaxle mount.
3. Remove engine/transaxle table from under assembly.
4. Heater hoses and torque clamps to 1.7 Nm ( 15 in. lb. ).
5. Drive axles to transaxle.
6. Suspension support assembly.
7. Ball joints.
8. Engine mount strut.
9. Exhaust down pipe to crossover and torque to 25 Nm (18 lb. ft.)
10. A/C compressor.
11. Oil filter and torque to 15 Nm ( 11 ft.lb. ).
12. Right side splash shield and torque nuts to 10 Nm (89 in. lb.)
13. Tire and wheel assemblies.
14. Lower engine wiring then lower vehicle.
15. Right engine mount to engine mount bracket.
16. Engine support fixture J 28467-A.
17. P/S lines at pump and torque to 27 Nm (20 lb. ft.)
18. Upper engine wiring.
19. Vacuum hose to vacuum reservoir.
20. Canister purge vacuum line.
21. Vacuum check valve at power brake booster.
22. A/C pressure switch electrical connector.
23. Accelerator and cruise control cable ( if equipped ) to throttle linkage.
24. Shift cable and linkage to mounting bracket.
25. Serpentine belt.
26. Heater inlet hose to rear of engine and torque clamps to 1.7 Nm ( 15 in. lb. ).
27. Heater outlet hose to water pump and torque clamps to 1.7 Nm ( 15 in. lb. ).
28. Lower radiator hose to engine and torque clamps to 3.4 Nm ( 30 in. lb. ).
29. Upper radiator hose to engine and torque clamps to 3.4 Nm ( 30 in. lb. ).
30. Transaxle fluid level indicator.
31. Transaxle cooler lines from radiator and torque to 27 Nm (20 ft. lb. ).
32. Cooling fan electrical connections.
33. Fill all necessary fluid levels.
34. Battery and battery cables and torque bolts to 15 Nm ( 11 ft.lb. ).Refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction / Service and Repair / Idle Learn Procedure. Service and Repair
35. Air cleaner assembly.
36. Inspect for proper fluid levels, leaks, and completion of repair.
