Universal Theft Deterrent (UTD) Systems

(NOT USING PKE TRANSMITTER)
UNIVERSAL THEFT DETERRENT (UTD)

Arming

The arming sequence begins when Ignition is "OFF" and one of the doors is opened. The "Security" Indicator will flash "ON" & "OFF." When one of the Door Locks is moved to the "LOCK" position, momentary voltage is applied to terminal "C4" of the Central Control Module (CCM), gray connector. The "SECURITY" Indicator will stop flashing but remain "ON." When the door is closed, ground is removed from terminal "C12" (RH Door) or terminal "D16" (RH Door) of CCM, gray connector. The system is now armed, and the "SECURITY" Indicator will remain "ON" for a few seconds, then turn "OFF."

Cancellation

The system may be cancelled by moving either Door Lock to the "UNLOCK" position before closing the door. When moving to the "UNLOCK" position, a momentary voltage is applied to the CCM unlock input, terminal "C5" (gray connector), thus disarming the system.

Disarming

The system may be disarmed by turning either outside Door Lock Cylinder to the "UNLOCK" position using the Door Key.

This applies ground to terminal "D15" of the CCM, gray connector, thus disarming the system.

Tampering

With the system armed, the Horns will sound "ON" & "OFF" if:
^ Either door is opened without key.
^ Hatch is opened.
^ Key is put in Ignition.
^ Park Lights/Headlights turned "ON."
^ Power Door Switch is moved to "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" position.

In addition to the Horns sounding, the Starter Enable Relay will be disabled; the Engine Control Module (ECM) will not receive a Fuel Enable signal on the Serial Data Lines from the CCM to allow fuel injector pulses to begin; and the PASS-Key Ignition Key will not be recognized.

The arming and disarming sequences are slightly different when using the Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) Transmitter instead of the Power Door Lock Switch and Door Key.
