1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. On models equipped with automatic transmission, remove shifter button, snap ring and shift knob, Fig. 19.
3. On models equipped with manual transmission, remove shifter button, setscrew and shift knob, Fig. 20.
4. On all models, remove front and rear accessory trim plate screws, Fig. 21.
5. Remove trim plate retaining screw under ashtray.
6. On models equipped with automatic transmission, remove instrument panel electrical connectors for lighter, rear hatch release and gear indicator lamp.
7. On all models, disconnect valet parking switch electrical connectors.
8. Remove trim plate.
9. Remove center air outlet deflector.
10. Remove accessory trim plate to instrument panel retaining screws.
11. Remove two driver information center retaining bolts.
12. Disconnect light bulb socket electrical connectors from back of driver information center.
13. Remove two heater and air conditioning control assembly retaining screws.
14. Disconnect A/C control assembly electrical connector, then remove assembly from instrument panel.

15. Remove console door to console retaining screws, then disconnect console door lamp connector, Fig. 22.
16. Remove radio control to instrument panel retaining screws.
17. Pull radio control outward and disconnect electrical connectors.
18. Remove retainer securing lower LH trim panel to stud on steering column.
19. Remove LH trim panel to knee bolster and trim panel to instrument panel retaining screws.
20. Remove ALDL connector assembly retaining screw.
21. Disconnect courtesy lamp electrical connector.
22. Remove RH trim panel to trim panel support and instrument panel retaining screws.
23. Remove air distributor duct, Fig. 23.
24. Remove side panel to instrument panel retaining screws.
25. Move passenger seat to forward position.
26. Fold seatback forward to reveal floor pan studs and nuts.
27. Remove seat adjuster to floor retaining nuts.
28. On driver's seat, remove jack wheel wrench handle.
29. On all models, reposition seatback, slide seat rearward and remove seat adjuster covers.
30. Remove seat adjuster retaining nuts.
31. On vehicles equipped with power seats, remove seat cushion and cover by pushing down on the front of cushion and releasing retainer wire at front of cushion frame.
32. Disconnect electrical and pneumatic connectors.
33. On all models, remove seat assembly from vehicle.
34. Remove side trim panel to tunnel retaining screws.
35. Remove driver knee bolster inner and outer bracket retaining screws.
36. Remove lap air outlet and LH duct from lower duct assembly.
37. Remove right and left side window outlet duct to instrument panel retaining screw.
38. Remove passenger knee bolster outer bracket retaining clip.
39. Remove defogger outlet duct flex tube end from side window defog outlet duct.
40. Remove glove compartment lower hinge and latch retaining screws.
41. Remove glove compartment from upper trim pad.
42. Disconnect glove compartment courtesy lamp switch electrical connector.
43. Remove windshield defogger nozzle grille then disconnect sunload temperature sensor electrical connector.
44. Remove upper trim pad to instrument panel and bulkhead retaining screws.
45. Remove steering column front support bolts.
46. Remove cluster bezel retaining screws.
47. Remove cluster retaining screws, then disconnect cluster electrical connector.
48. Remove headlamp, dimmer and accessory switch retaining screws on RH side of switch.
49. Remove switch plate retaining screws, then disconnect instrument panel harness electrical connectors.
50. Remove fuse box from instrument panel by drilling rivets securing fuse box to instrument panel.
51. Disconnect alarm module and low tire pressure module electrical connector.
52. Remove inside air temperature sensor to instrument panel retaining screws.
53. Remove lateral accelerometer assembly retaining screws.
54. Remove upper instrument panel reinforcement brace retaining screws.
55. Remove driver and passenger knee bolster outer bracket retaining nuts.
56. Remove driver and passenger knee bolster inner bracket retaining nuts on bulkhead and console bracket.
57. Remove two wiring harness retainers from rear of instrument panel (cluster area).
58. Remove three multi-use relay bracket retaining nuts from instrument panel.
59. Remove air distributor duct retaining screws, then the air duct.
60. Remove instrument panel from vehicle.
61. Reverse procedure to install.
62. Reactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
