Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair
1. To avoid personal injury when servicing models equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (Airbag) System, temporarily disarm system. Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove transmission shift lever knob.
4. Remove console trim plate attaching screws, then disconnect electrical connectors and remove trim plate.
5. Remove center air duct attaching screws.
6. Remove accessory trim plate attaching screws, clips and trim plate.
7. Remove left hand lower trim plate attaching screws and retainers. Remove screw attaching ALDL connector to trim panel, then disconnect courtesy lamp electrical connector and remove trim panel.
8. Remove drivers side knee booster attaching screws.
9. Remove steering column tilt lever.
10. Remove steering column upper attaching bolts, then carefully lower steering column.

11. Remove instrument cluster bezel attaching screws, then remove bezel, Fig. 27.
12. Remove instrument cluster attaching screws, then disconnect electrical connectors and remove instrument cluster, Fig. 28.
13. Reverse procedure to install.
14. After completing service procedure activate Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (Airbag) System. Refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
