Engine: Service and Repair
Remove or Disconnect
1. Hood with assistant.
2. Air cleaner and duct assembly.
3. Drain cooling system.
4. Engine torque strut completely.
5. Air intake silencer assembly.
6. Coolant recovery reservoir.
7. Upper radiator hose at engine.
8. Lower radiator hose/heater hose at coolant pump at rear of engine.
9. Brake booster vacuum hose at intake manifold.
10. Throttle control cables at throttle body.
11. Serpentine belt.
12. Electrical connection and retaining screws at right side engine cooling fan and fan.
13. Power steering pump.
14. Fuel lines.
15. Screws retaining generator heat shield and shield.
16. Electrical connections at generator.
17. Electrical connector at exhaust oxygen sensor.
18. Nuts retaining engine torque strut mount bracket, battery cable/ground wires, bracket at bellhousing and bolt retaining torque strut bracket at engine lift bracket.
19. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
20. Flywheel cover retaining screws and cover.
21. Flywheel to torque converter retaining bolts.
22. Engine mount to frame nuts.
23. Front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
24. Lower vehicle.
25. Rotate engine and install strut to bolt hole in engine lift bracket and torque strut mount bracket.
^ This holds engine forward and gives access to rear of engine.
26. Electrical connections at starter motor and ground wires at engine block in front of starter.
27. Bolts retaining A/C compressor to mount bracket.
^ Lay A/C compressor aside.
28. Bolts retaining engine to transaxle bracket at transaxle.
29. Vacuum hose at intake manifold.
30. Electrical connectors at speed sensor, knock sensor, engine block ground wires and wire harness clamp nut under intake manifold.
31. Electrical connectors at throttle body and injector harness.
^ Leave harness on injectors and pull harness from manifold.
32. Bellhousing to engine bolts/nuts, ground wires and battery ground cable.
33. Engine torque struts.
34. Install engine lifting device.
35. Engine assembly with an assistant and pull engine halfway out.
36. Electrical connections at electronic ignition module.
37. Engine from vehicle.
Install or Connect
1. Engine to vehicle, partially.
2. Electrical connections at electronic ignition module.
3. Engine assembly with assistant.
4. Remove engine lifting device.
5. Engine torque struts.
6. Bellhousing to engine bolts/nuts, ground wires and battery ground cable.
7. Electrical connector at throttle body and injector harness.
8. Electrical connectors at speed sensor, knock sensor, engine block ground wires and wire harness clamp nut under intake manifold.
9. Vacuum hose at intake manifold.
10. Bolts retaining engine to transaxle bracket at transaxle.
11. Bolts retaining A/C compressor to mount bracket.
12. Electrical connections at starter motor and ground wires at engine block in front of starter.
13. Push engine back and remove strut to bolt hole in engine lift bracket and torque strut mount bracket.
14. Front exhaust pipe to manifold.
15. Engine mount to frame nuts.
16. Flywheel to torque converter retaining bolts.
17. Flywheel cover retaining screws and cover.
18. Lower vehicle.
19. Nuts retaining engine torque strut mount bracket, battery cable/ground wires, bracket at bellhousing and bolt retaining torque strut bracket at engine lift bracket.
20. Electrical connector at exhaust oxygen sensor.
21. Electrical connections at generator.
22. Screws retaining generator heat shield and shield.
23. Fuel lines.
24. Power steering pump retaining bolts and pump.
25. Electrical connection and retaining screws at right side engine cooling fan and fan.
26. Serpentine belt.
27. Throttle control cables at throttle body.
28. Brake booster vacuum hose at intake manifold.
29. Lower radiator hose/heater hose at coolant pump at rear of engine.
30. Upper radiator hose at engine.
31. Coolant recovery reservoir.
32. Air intake silencer assembly.
33. Engine torque strut completely.
34. Refill cooling system.
35. Air cleaner and duct assembly.
36. Hood with assistant.
Inspect
^ Proper fluid levels.
^ For leaks.
