SUBJECT:
LOW FREQUENCY RADIO DISTORTION WITH EXTENDED RANGE SPEAKERS - RPO U05 - (REPLACE FRONT SPEAKERS)

MODELS:
1994 CHEVROLET CAPRICE

CONDITION:
Some owners may comment that the front door mounted speakers may crackle or distort at low frequencies. These extended range speakers (RPO UQ5) are used on all radios except the standard AM/FM.

CAUSE:
The speakers lack adequate protection against low frequency distortion. New speakers were used in production after VIN RR105997.

CORRECTION:
Replace both front door mounted speakers with P/N 16201611. Follow the instructions in the Service Manual, Page 10-6-37.
