1. Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove two sound insulator retaining nuts from under instrument panel, then the three bolts that attach insulator to instrument panel, Figs. 127 and 128.
4. Pulling insulator downward, remove courtesy lamp, then the insulator.
5. Remove two instrument cluster bezel screws from under panel, then pull bezel rearward to release clips, Fig. 129.
6. Disconnect headlamp and windshield wiper switch electrical connectors.
7. Remove instrument cluster retaining screws, then pull cluster rearward and disconnect electrical connectors.
8. Using a flat tool, pry trim bezel from instrument panel, then remove A/C/heater control and radio.
9. Disconnect electrical connectors and vacuum lines from A/C controls, then the electrical connectors from radio.
10. Remove four knee bolster retaining screws, then the knee bolster.
11. Remove two steering column to upper support attaching bolts, then the two bolts on the lower support. Lower column, ensuring that the flange and coupling assembly is not under tension.
12. Remove two Data Link Connector (DLC) retaining screws, then lower the connector.

13. Remove convenience center retaining bolts, Fig. 130.
14. Remove turn signal flasher and electrical connector from convenience center.
15. Remove lefthand side center brace bolts, then disconnect left side window defogger hose from heater module, Fig. 131.
16. Remove instrument panel compartment, cruise control module and righthand side wire harness retaining screw, Fig. 132.
17. Remove righthand side center brace bolts and nuts from instrument panel, then the left and right side pillar nuts, Fig. 131.
18. Remove windshield defogger grille, then upper instrument panel attaching screws and knee bolster brace.
19. Remove center wire harness retaining screws and fuse block, Fig. 132.
20. Remove righthand wiring harness retainer from side of steering column, then the instrument panel pad.
21. Remove left and right side window defogger outlets, then the center air outlets, Fig. 133.
22. Remove bracket from righthand side of steering column opening, then the knee bolster reinforcement on the lefthand side of steering column opening, Fig. 134.
23. Remove pillar studs.
24. Reverse procedure to install.
25. Reactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
