Removal and Replacement

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove air intake duct.

2. Disconnect shift cable from transaxle, then disconnect vacuum line at modulator.

3. Disconnect wiring connectors for TCC, park/neutral position switch and shift solenoid.

4. Remove power steering pump. Set pump aside.

5. Install engine support fixture part No. J-28467-A, or equivalent.

6. Remove top two transaxle to engine bolts, then the rubber hose from transaxle vent pipe, if equipped.

7. Remove remaining upper engine to transaxle bolts, then raise and support vehicle.

8. Remove both front wheels, then splash shields.

9. Remove both front ABS wheel speed sensors and harnesses from left side suspension support.

10. If suspension contact hoist is used, place jack stands under suspension supports. Lower vehicle slightly so weight of vehicle rests on suspension supports and not on control arms.

11. Remove left ball joint from steering knuckle, then the left stabilizer shaft link pin.

12. Remove front air deflector.

13. Remove left stabilizer shaft frame bushing clamp nuts, then the left suspension support assembly.

14. Remove both drive axles, then the engine to transaxle brace.

15. Remove starter, then the torque converter cover.

16. Remove heater core hose pipe brace from transaxle.

17. Using scribe, place alignment mark on flywheel and torque converter

18. Remove torque converter to flywheel mounting bolts, then the oil level indicator and fill tube.

19. Disconnect transaxle cooler pipes, then remove vehicle speed sensor.

20. Remove vacuum reserve tank, then install transaxle jack.

21. Remove transaxle mount to body bolts, then the remaining engine to transaxle bolts.

22. Remove transaxle from vehicle.

23. Reverse procedure to install.
