Troubleshooting Hints

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. If the Theft Deterrent System operates normally using the Power Door Lock Switches but not with the Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) Transmitter, refer to Keyless Entry. Keyless Entry
2. Make sure KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING operates properly (Refer to Audible Warning Device). Audible Warning Device
3. Make sure ground G106 is clean and tight.
4. Check for the following Central Control Module Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) being set:
- Codes 51-54
- Codes 61-63
If any are set, refer to Central Control Module for diagnosis. Central Control Module
5. Make sure Horns operate properly (Refer to Horn). Horn
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (Refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
6. Make sure the Power Door Lock System works normally using the Power Door Lock Switches (Refer to Passive Keyless Entry/Power Door Locks). Keyless Entry
7. If alarm sounds when Passive Keyless Entry Transmitter is brought into range, check for short to ground in CKT 1376.
