Troubleshooting Hints

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. If the Hatch Release does not operate from any of the Release Switches, check the Hatch Fuse.
2. If the Hatch Release does not operate from the Door Release Switch in the door, check the Door Ajar Switch by opening and closing the doors; OK if the Courtesy Lights come "ON." If the Courtesy Lights do not operate properly, refer to Interior Lights. Lighting and Horns
3. Check the Park Brake Switch (Manual Transmission) by applying the Park Brake with the Ignition Switch in "RUN" and check the "BRAKE" Warning Indicator for illumination.
4. Check for a clean and tight ground G401.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (Refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
