Troubleshooting Hints - Interior Lights Dimming

PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
1. Check to see if Central Control Module (CCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) 71, 72, 73 or 74 are set before proceeding. If set, refer to Central Control Module for DTC diagnosis. Central Control Module
2. Make sure Park Lights turn "ON" and "OFF" normally before proceeding with diagnostics, refer to "Exterior Lights," for Park Lights diagnosis. Testing and Inspection
3. If Panel Lights stay "ON" all the time, but Park Lights operate normally, repair short to B + in CKT 230, CKT 8 or CKT 1458.
4. Make sure grounds G201 and G202 are clean and tight.
5. If one Panel Lamp does not operate, check the GRY (or GRY/BLK) and BLK wires to suspect Panel Lamp for opens, bent terminals, etc. If OK, replace Panel Lamp bulb (See Schematic).
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (Refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
