DESCRIPTI0N
The 3-2 downshift solenoid is a normally closed computer operated solenoid valve used to increase the exhaust rate of fluid pressure from the 3rd accumulator in the transmission, as needed depending on vehicle speed. This helps to ensure a smooth and solid apply of the 2-4 band at different vehicle speeds, for downshifting to 2nd gear.
OPERATION
The solenoid gets electrical power when the ignition is turned "ON", and becomes energized when the PCM completes the circuit to ground. The solenoid is operated on a duty cycle ("ON" time Vs. "OFF" time).
