Removal and Replacement

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and remove intake air duct

2. Disconnect TV cable, shift cable and bracket, vacuum lines and electrical connectors

3. Remove power steering pump and position aside. it Is not necessary to disconnect hydraulic lines.

4. Remove transaxle filler tube, then install engine support fixture tool No. J 28467-A, or equivalent.

5. Remove upper engine to transaxle bolts, then raise and support vehicle.

6. Remove front wheels and splash shields.

7. Remove front wheel ABS wheel speed sensors and disengage sensor harness from left suspension support.

8. Remove lower ball joints and stabilizer shaft links.

9. Remove front air deflector, left suspension Support and both drive axles.

10. Remove engine to transaxle brace, torque converter cover and starter.

11. Remove torque converter to flywheel bolts, then disconnect transaxle cooler lines.

12. Disconnect ground straps, then remove cooler line and exhaust pipe braces.

13. Remove -bolts from engine and transaxle mount, then support transaxle with a suitable jack.

14 Remove bolts securing transaxle mount to body, then the bolt and nut securing heater core hose pipe brace to transaxle.

15. Remove remaining engine to transaxle bolts.

16. Remove transaxle from vehicle.

17. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Tighten all transaxle bolts and nuts to specifications.

b. Adjust linkages.
