Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

ON-VEHICLE SERVICE
NOTICE: When fasteners are removed always reinstall them at the same location from which they were removed. If a fastener needs to he replaced, use the correct part number fastener for that application. The correct torque value must he used as specified during reassembly to ensure proper retention of all parts or damage to the part may result.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT AIR CLEANER FILTER/UPPER AIR CLEANER
1. Air cleaner screws.
2. Upper air cleaner.
3. Air cleaner filter from upper air cleaner.
Inspect
^ Air cleaner filter for dust dirt, water and replace if required.
Install or Connect
1. Air cleaner filter to upper air cleaner.
2. Upper to lower air cleaner.
3. Air cleaner screws.
Tighten
^ 6 Nm (53 lb in).
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT LOWER AIR CLEANER
1. Front air intake duct push in retainer.
2. Attaching bolt from lower air cleaner.
3. Loosen clamp on rear air intake duct and position rear air intake duct out of the way.
4. Lower air cleaner from vehicle.
Install or Connect
1. Lower air cleaner to vehicle.
Important: Insure that the engaging pins are properly located and intake duct is sealed to the intake resonator and front intake duct.
2. Position rear air intake duct onto lower air cleaner.
Important If replacing the rear air intake duct be sure to transfer the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor to the new duct. Just grasp the IAT sensor and pull it out of the duct.
3. Attaching bolt to lower air cleaner.
Tighten
^ 6 Nm (53 lb in).
4. Front air input duct push in retainer.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT AIR CLEANER SUPPORT
1. Upper and lower air cleaner.
2. Trans vent pipe from support.
3. Wiring harness from support.
4. Attaching bolt from air cleaner support.
5. Air cleaner support from vehicle.
Install or Connect
1. Air cleaner support to vehicle.
2. Attaching bolt to air cleaner support bolt to 10 Nm (8 lb ft).
3. Wiring harness to support.
4. Trans vent pipe to support.
5. Upper and lower air cleaner.
