Tire Monitoring System: Testing and Inspection
Diagnostic Chart:
Wiring Diagram:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The system diagnostic check is an organized approach to identify problems associated with the Low Tire Pressure Warning System (LTPWS). It must be a starting point for any LTPWS complaint, because it directs the service technician to the next logical step in diagnosing the complaint. Understanding the chart and using it correctly will reduce diagnostic time and prevent unnecessary parts replacement.
CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on diagnostic charts.
1. Checks to see if "LOW/FLAT" and "SERVICE LTPWS" lamps are operable.
2. Tests for sensor transmissions at operating speeds to see if DTC(s) will set.
3. Checks for any DTC(s) stored in memory.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Make sure the vehicle has not been driven at slow speeds or idling for extended time periods. This can cause false DTC to set. Make sure tire pressure measurements are taken when they are cold, this ensures that the lowest readings will be achieved. Refer to DIAGRAMS for circuit location.
