Engine Power Switch
DESCRIPTIONThe driver can select two engine power modes, "FULL" or "NORMAL" power, with an instrument panel mounted key switch. This switch is wired into the ECM, and allows the driver to determine the engine output.
OPERATION
The ECM sends out a voltage signal, and monitors its status. In the "NORMAL" power position the ECM does not allow the secondary air inlet valves to open and the secondary injectors are "OFF." When the engine power switch is turned to "FULL" engine power, the ECM will enable secondary operation if other criteria are met such as engine oil temperature, throttle position, manifold absolute pressure and engine speed.
SCAN TOOL TESTING
The scan tool will display the power switch signal status. When "NORMAL" power has been requested, the scan tool will display "NORMAL." When "FULL" power has been requested the scan tool will display "FULL."
