Shift Rails

Disassemble
1. Remove 3-4 gearshift fork rail from output shaft assembly, then gearshift rails with forks from main and countershaft assemblies.

2. Remove sliding shoes, roll pin lock, then roll pin from 5-6 shift fork.

3. Remove 5-6 shift fork and 1-2 shift fork from shift rail. Note that roll pin and lock pin were removed during disassembly.

4. Remove gearshift shaft stops and snap rings.


Assemble
1. Install snap rings on both ends of gearshift shaft, then gearshift shaft stops.

2. Install 1-2 shift fork onto 1-2 shift rail. Fork arm must point in opposite direction from rail detent notches. Position fork forward of rail roll pin notch approximately 1.6 inches.

3. Install 5-6 fork onto 5-6 shift rail. Fork arms must point in opposite direction from rail detent notches with fork shift gate pointing upward.

4. Install shift fork to shift rail by driving in roll pin and roll pin lock.

5. Install fork sliding shoes to 5-6 shift fork, then 5-6 and 1-2 rail fork assemblies into respective synchronizer sleeves on support fixture.
