Poor Appearance of Roof to Quarter Panel Joints
(Repair Joint Surface and Refinish Area)

Condition
Some customers may comment about root to quarter panel joints that have a wavy surface or poor appearance.
Correction
Repair the joint surface and refinish the affected area (may be one or both sides) as required.
Note:
DO NOT REMOVE THE BACK GLASS REVEAL MOLDING; use "cord technique" such as *"Follex"(TM) system, or 3M # 06349 tape (or similar method) under molding edge and masking tape for protection during sanding and painting operations.
Procedure
Caution:
Sanding dust, solvents and paints are potential health hazards. Make sure to wear an approved mask or respirator that Is appropriate to the task being performed.
1. Carefully remove stationary quarter glass on affected side of vehicle as indicated by Section 10-2 in the Service Manual.
2. Tape and protect the back window molding as indicated by the above note.
3. Repair the joint area with a polyester filler such as PPG # DF715, DuPont # 22905, Evercoat # 407 or equivalent product. Follow the manufacturer's directions for mix, application and dry times.
4. Refinish the area and clearcoat the entire roof panel and both quarter panels down to the feature line near mid body. Follow the manufacturer's directions for mix, application and dry times.
5. Reinstall the stationary quarter glass to the body using GM P/N 12345633 adhesive kit or equivalent.
