Rear Lift Window Panel Replacement: Removal Procedure:




REMOVAL PROCEDURE

NOTE: DO NOT close the lift window panel with the struts attached unless the window is installed and the window adhesive fully cured. The window adds strength and rigidity to the lift window panel. Attempting to close the lift window panel, with the struts installed, without a window or with the window adhesive not fully cured, could cause the panel to crack.

If necessary, the rear compartment lift window panel may be manually released by pulling on the manual release cables located behind the cargo compartment rear corner carpet panels.

The procedure for removing the lift window from the lift window panel is found in Stationary Windows.

1. Remove the removable root panel.

2. Open the lift window panel and suitably support.

3. Disconnect the upper defogger connection from each strut.
4. Remove the struts from the lift window panel.
5. Remove the support and lower the lift window. DO NOT latch the lift window.

6. Remove the roof bow center interior trim panel.

7. Disconnect the antenna jumper cable connection.

8. Remove the nuts from the hinges.

9. With the aid of a helper remove the lift window panel and place it on a protective surface.
10. Transfer parts as necessary.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: DO NOT close the lift window panel with the struts attached unless the window is installed and the window adhesive fully cured. The window adds strength and rigidity to the lift window panel. Attempting to close the lift window panel, with the struts installed, without a window or with the window adhesive not fully cured, could cause the panel to crack.

1. With the aid of a helper position the lift window panel with the shims and gaskets to the root bow and to the opening.

2. Align the lift window panel to the opening with a 7 mm (0.27 in) gap between the window and the roof bow.
3. Install the hinge nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the hinge nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

4. Open the lift window panel and support.

5. Install the struts to the lift window panel.
6. Connect the window defogger connections.
7. Connect the antenna jumper cable to the lift window.

8. Install the trim panel to the root bow.
9. Remove the lift window panel temporary support.
10. Close the lift window panel.

11. Install the roof panel.
