Disc Brake Adjustment






1. Apply service brake pedal three times with pedal force of approximately 778 N (175 lbs.).

CAUTION: Do not apply service brake during the next step.

2. Fully apply and release parking brake three times.
3. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
4. Mark relationship of wheel to hub and bearing assemble.
5. Check parking brake for full release. Turn ignition on. "BRAKE" warning lamp should be off. If "BRAKE" warning light is still on. Make sure pedal is in release mode an fully returned to stop. Pull downward on the front parking brake cable to remove slack from pedal.
6. Remove rear tires and wheels.
7. Parking brake levers on both calipers should be against the lever stops on the caliper housings. If levers are not against stops, check for binding in rear cables and/or loosen cables at adjuster until both left and right levers are against their stops.
8. Tighten parking brake cable at adjuster until either the left or right lever reaches the dimension.

NOTE: Apply service brake during the next step.

9. Operate parking brake several times to check adjustments. A firm pedal feel should be obtained. Rear wheels should not rotate forward when parking brake is fully applied. Repeat steps 8 and 9 if needed.
10. Remove wheel nuts securing rotor to hub and bearing assembly.
11. Tires and wheels. Align previous marks on wheel and hub and bearing assembly.
12. Lower vehicle.
