Circuit Operation - Interior Lights
DOME LAMP AND INSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR COURTESY/READING LAMPSVoltage is applied from Fuse 28 through CKT 240 at all times to the Inside Rearview Mirror Lamps and to the Dome Lamp. The Inside Rearview Mirror and the Dome Lamp will illuminate whenever a door is opened or whenever the Headlamp Switch is turned to DOME. Ground for this circuit is supplied by the Headlamp Switch through CKT 156 whenever it senses a ground in CKT 49 from the Door Lock or B+ from the Headlamp Switch. A timer in the Headlamp Switch will turn off the Courtesy Lamps after approximately 10 minutes if the Headlamp Switch was left ON or the doors were left open with the Ignition OFF. The Inside Rearview Mirror Lamps also have separate switches in the circuit. When turned ON, these switches close to ground allowing for individual operation of these lamps.
SUSTAINED INTERIOR LIGHTING
The Headlamp Switch controls the sustained illumination feature for the Courtesy Lamps. After all the doors are closed, the Headlamp Switch will keep the Courtesy Lamps ON for approximately 16 seconds, gradually dimming the lamps until they are OFF. Turning the Ignition to RUN or START will cancel this process, turning off all Courtesy Lamps.
ILLUMINATED ENTRY
An illuminated entry feature is available only with Keyless Entry. When the doors are unlocked by the Remote Keyless Emitter (RKE) Transmitter, the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) will pull CKT 49 low for approximately 40 seconds, illuminating the Courtesy Lamps. Locking the doors with the RKE Transmitter will cause the receiver to pull CKT 49 low for approximately 2 seconds, illuminating the Courtesy Lamps once again. When the Receiver times out for either LOCK or UNLOCK function, the Headlamp Switch will initiate the sustained illumination dimming feature.
SUNSHADE ILLUMINATED MIRROR
Voltage is applied from Fuse 28 at all times to the Sunshade Illuminated Mirrors through CKT 240. The mirror will illuminate whenever the Sunshade is pulled down and the mirror cover is opened, closing the switch to ground.
I/P COMPARTMENT LAMP
Voltage is applied from Fuse 28 through CKT 240 at all times to the I/P Compartment Lamp. The I/P Compartment Lamp Switch closes to ground whenever the Compartment Door is opened.
CIGAR LIGHTER
Voltage is applied from Fuse 1 at all times to the Cigar Lighter through CKT 1240. The Cigar Lighter has a heating element that, when pushed in, completes the circuit and begins to heat. When the element is sufficiently heated, the Cigar Lighter opens the circuit.
REAR COMPARTMENT COURTESY LAMP
Voltage is applied from Fuse 28 through CKT 240 at all times to the Rear Compartment Courtesy Lamp. The Rear Compartment Lid Ajar Indicator Switch closes to ground with the lid open, giving the Rear Compartment Courtesy Lamp its ground through CKT 744.
