Wiper Arm: Service and Repair

Remove or Disconnect

Tool Required:
J 6627-4 Wiper Arm Remover

1. Turn ignition switch to "ACCY" position.
2. Set wiper switch to "PULSE" position.
3. Turn ignition switch off when wiper arms in innerwipe position and not moving.
4. Hose (7) from nozzle (8).
5. Cover (9) from nut (10).
6. Nut (10) from wiper arm assembly (11) and wiper transmission drive shall (A).
7. Wiper arm assembly (11) from wiper transmission drive shaft (A).
8. Wiper blade assembly (12) from wiper arm assembly (11).
A. Push in button (B) of wiper blade assembly clip (C) and remove wiper blade assembly (12) from inside radius of wiper arm assembly (11).
B. Bring wiper arm assembly (11) out through opening in wiper blade assembly (12).

Install or Connect

NOTICE: Refer to Service Precautions.

1. Wiper blade assembly (12) on wiper arm assembly (11).
2. Return wiper transmission assembly (13) to park position.
A. Turn ignition to "ACCY" position.
B. Turn wiper/washer switch on and then off.
C. Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position.
3. Wiper arm assembly (11) on wiper transmission drive shaft (A).
A. Position wiper arm assembly (11) slightly below the stop surface of the park ramp (14).
B. Push wiper arm assembly (11) down onto wiper transmission drive shaft (A) completely.
4. Nut (10) on wiper transmission drive shaft (A) and wiper arm assembly (11).
Tighten
^ Nut to 23 N.m (17 lb. ft.).
5. Cover (9) on nut (10).
6. Lift wiper arm assembly (11) up onto park ramp (14).
Important
^ Lubricate hose with windshield washer solvent to ease installation on nozzle.
7. Hose (7) on nozzle (8).
Inspect
^ Park position. Both wiper arm assemblies must be snug against park ramps (14).
^ Wipe pattern. Dimension E should be 55 - 132 mm (2-1/8 - 5-1/8 in.) from top of driver's side wiper blade assembly (12) on outerwipe to edge of glass.
^ Correct park position and outerwipe dimension are determined with the wipers operating at low speed on wet glass.
