Crossmember Bolt Replacement, Front

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Crossmember Bolt Replacement: Front - Removal Procedure:

1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Using Hand Tools remove the nut from the crossmember bolt to be replaced.
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Open the hood.
5. Remove the battery heat shield, (if removing the right rear bolt only).

Crossmember Bolt Replacement: Front - Removal Procedure:

6. Drill out the crossmember bolt anti rotation device rivet.
7. Remove the bolt.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Check the new bolt against the old bolt for proper length. There are 4 different length crossmember bolts.

Crossmember Bolt Replacement: Front - Installation Procedure:

1. Install the crossmember bolt.
2. Install a rivet to the crossmember bolt anti rotation device.

Crossmember Bolt Replacement: Front - Installation Procedure:

3. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information. Diagnostic Aids
4. Install a new nut to the crossmember bolt and tighten the nut with Hand Tools.

Tighten
Tighten the crossmember bolt nut to 110 N.m (81 lb ft).

5. Lower the vehicle
6. Install the battery heat shield (if removed to replace the right rear crossmember bolt)
