Exhaust System Service (Peeling Paint)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle and support.





3. Remove the rear stabilizer bar bolts, nuts and straps.
4. Position the stabilizer bar downward.

IMPORTANT: The exhaust system must be cold.






5. Remove the intermediate exhaust pipe to the rear exhaust pipe bolts.





6. Remove the muffler from the muffler hanger.
7. Remove the muffler from the vehicle.
8. Clean the affected area with a wax and grease remover.
9. Wire brush the affected area to remove flaking paint and blow off with air.
10. Sand the affected area with 80 to 150 grit sandpaper to remove rust, dirt or other containments.
11. Clean the affected area with a wax and grease remover.
12. Apply paint to the affected area. Follow the manufactures instructions.
13. Allow the paint to dry.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the muffler to the vehicle.
2. Install the muffler to the muffler hanger.





3. Install the intermediate exhaust pipe to the rear exhaust pipe bolts.
^ Tighten the intermediate exhaust pipe to the rear exhaust pipe bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).






4. Reposition the rear stabilizer bar.

5. Install the rear stabilizer bar straps, bolts and nuts.
^ Tighten the rear stabilizer bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).

6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
^ Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).

8. Program the Transmitters.

IMPORTANT: Some smoking will occur while curing the paint with the engine is running, be careful not to get the exhaust system wet during the first 30 minutes

9. In a well ventilated area, start the engine and allow to idle for up to 30 minutes until the paint is cured. The paint can be cured while driving.
